Artist's Statement:
I grew up in the inland, in north-western New South Wales, and have seen a lot of change to the environment over 40 years, as the influence of modern settlement takes over and stifles traditional land use of the previous 40,000 years. The “seeds” of civilisation are conflicting with our land, leaving us with our desert country to inspire us to think of our future. Hopefully, we can gather the seeds of our past to regenerate a better future for our environment and us.
Biography (condensed):
In 2005 my partner underwent chemotherapy treatment and during this time I discovered the solitude and fulfilment of painting. Upon discovering this new passion I have continued to paint full time, allowing my hobby to take over my life. I have been developing my own style and have been influenced by my surroundings in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, whilst remembering my youth spent in outback New South Wales. My preferred medium is oil.
