Artist's Statement:
I see my work as having the effect of planting seeds in peoples minds, about the need to care for our planet. I do this by having strong messages about the environment continually throughout my work.
Sometimes this has been through the use of found plastics which I have collected from Australia’s beaches and then made art from. People have said to me that their perception of walking along the beaches has shifted dramatically after seeing my artworks.
Biography (condensed):
Byron Bay environmental artist, has had significant National and International exposure as a contemporary visual artist. John has regular exhibitions in Europe and New York and Australia and has been an exhibiting artist for over 25 years. He studied at the Victorian College of the Arts and was the winner of the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2000. He has been a finalist a number of times in the Wynne Prize and the Sulman Prize.
