Artist's Statement:
A seed in your life
Why are we finishing with our world? Why are we destroying forests? Why are we cutting trees?
Every day I see people destroying nature with impunity, only for the fact that they paid for a piece of our earth's crust. We feel we have the right to cut, to destroy a tree which might be hundreds of years old just because it is disturbing us. We have to prove to nature that we are the ones who rule.
Whatever nature has made green, we make it black; whatever nature created in hundred of years, we are able to destroy it in a few hours or even in a few minutes.
Why create a tree? Why are we making metallic forests? Why are we filling the world with my useless art? Each one of my works is the echo of the cracking sound of a collapsing tree. This is intended to remind the world that we are simply part of it. We can all fit in, we belong to it and we should respect it. I think that it would not be difficult to share within the world. The world is huge and there is space for everything and everyone — why are we persisting in mistreating it?
Maybe one day my artwork won't be useless anymore. Maybe one day it will be converted in a conscious seed for someone who decides not to cut this tree which has been growing in the mistaken place, and why not, maybe people will be sharing my dreams. Those seeds would be converted into new trees growing extensively for the simple need of enjoying seeing them grow.
Biography (condensed):
Asturian (Celtic) A sculptor known for his bronze and steel “Trees of Steel” reflecting the deterioration of the environment by the increasing absence of nature, his work is a compromise with the eco-system. The largest tree has a height of 6.5 metres and a weight of 25 tonnes. He is sending a small tree and a recent sculpture in honour of the “Dove of Peace, with olive branch” artwork by Picasso.
