Scientists and artists unite in this special exhibition to highlight the importance of preservation of our greatest treasures - "agricultural" seeds.
The CSIRO Discovery centre, located on the Black Mountain research site in Canberra, is an award-winning, purpose-built complex for research, education and the involvement and engagement of the Australian community in CSIRO’s activities. Discovery is located at the heart of CSIRO’s Division of Plant Industry and its agricultural research; an obvious link with the intent of the Global Seed Vault on Svalbard.
CSIRO Discovery’s permanent science exhibition is acknowledged for its sophisticated and vibrant design and unique showcase of research to the public.
One of the most successful aspects of CSIRO Discovery is an active public program of lectures, films, temporary exhibitions and workshops on topical issues. Within this framework, Discovery has presented many successful art exhibitions that focus on the nexus of art and science.
In 2009, CSIRO Discovery is proud to be hosting the Treasure of Seeds exhibition for its natural synergy between CSIRO, Australia’s largest research organisation; internationally recognised artists; and the Global Crop Diversity Trust.
